Registration Information

  • Online Payments: Recreation Classes & City Facilities - The Grover Beach Parks and Recreation Department now offers online registration and will accept credit card payments. The City is partnering with ActiveNet to provide you the service to register from the convenience of your home computer.

*There are no additional service fees when using your credit card.

  • Tiny Tots Enrichment Program - The Tiny Tots Enrichment Program is a child-enrichment program designed to integrate advanced learning and social skills. Registration is controlled by the contract instructor(s). Instructors will respond within one week with program availability.
  • South County Skate Park - Open every day for FREE! No Staff on Site. Skateboards, Scooters and In-line skates only!
    Open by 9:00 a.m. to Close at dusk
    NOTE: Assembly Bill No. 1146 and City of Grover Beach Municipal Code Article VI, Chapter 4, Sec. 6400 requires all participants to wear helmets, elbow and knee pads while using the South County Skate Park.
  • ZUMBA® - Zumba® Fitness is a dance fitness workout that is easy-to-follow and incorporates cardio, muscle-conditioning, balance and flexibility. Zumba® is great for all fitness levels, beginners to advanced with options for low and high impact provided in each class.All music styles with a danceable beat from country to hip-hop, and jazz to Latin-American. Tighten, tone, and party yourself into shape!
    Ages: 13 to 100
    Days: Mondays and Thursdays
    Time: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

    Fee: $36 per month
  • Fitness & Barre Connect – Barre Connect is a no-impact fusion of Pilates/Yoga/Ballet Toning that will create long, lean, dancer-like muscles. Set to great music (think everything from Michael Jackson to Sia!), the instructor will lead you through an effective series of pre-choreographed movements that will leave you feeling lengthened, toned, and energized!

Time: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Fee: $36 per month

  • Tai Chi – Based on Sunday Style Tai Chi, this program uses flowing movements to increase muscular strength and balance while protecting joints and decreasing stress. Class includes warm-up exercises and movement sequences in an innovative teaching format that helps facilitate safe learning. Tai Chi may be performed in a chair or with a walker. Instructor, Dr. Kathryn Phelan, will facilitate this ongoing class utilizing programs developed by Dr. Paul Lam, including Tai Chi for Arthritis, Diabetes, and Rehabilitation.
    Ages: 16 to Adult
    Days: Mondays
    Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    Fee: $28 per month
  • Acrylic & Oil Painting – This class caters to the first time beginner student, as well as intermediate/advanced artists with prior experience. Instructor Kristopher Doe provides instruction and encouragement in a creative environment. Please ask for a supply when registering.
    Ages: Adult
    Dates: Fridays - July 26th through October 25th
    November 1st through January 24th
    Times: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    Location: Grover Beach Community Center, 1230 Trouville Avenue
    Fee: $220 (12 weeks)

(Note: No class - November 29th) 

  • Beginner Ukulele I - Basic beginning level class for learning to play the ukulele. A few chords and and some simple strumming techniques are taught that will allow the student to play hundreds of songs. The ability to read musical nomenclature is not needed to enjoy this class. Playing the ukulele can open up a wonderful world of musical experiences for you. Instructor, Richard Simpson, is a retired local school principal and a long time ukulele player. Students must have a ukulele that can be tuned to the GCEA tuning. (Loaner Ukuleles may be available.)
    Ages: 17 and older
    Dates: Tuesdays
    August 27th to September 24th
    Times: 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    Location: Grover Beach Community Center, 1230 Trouville Avenue
    Fee: $35.00 per five week session

NOTE: A separate fee for music pages will be assessed at the first class of each session, payable
 directly to the instructor.

  • Beginner Ukulele II -This class continues the learning of beginning ukulele skills begun in the first session, and advances the student to playing more songs and utilizing other strumming patterns. Participation in the level 1 class is not required if the student is already able to play a half dozen or more chords on a ukulele, and can do the basic shuffle strum. Instructor, Richard Simpson, is a retired local school principal and a long time ukulele player. Students must have a ukulele that can be tuned to the GCEA tuning. (Loaner Ukuleles may be available.)
    Ages: 17 and older
    Dates: Tuesdays
    October 22nd to December 10th
    Times: 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    Location: Grover Beach Community Center, 1230 Trouville Avenue
    Fee: $50.00 per eight week session
