The City of Grover Beach covers 2.25 square miles and is located along the beautiful Central Coast of California, 92 miles north of Santa Barbara and 150 miles south of Monterey. Grover Beach provides for a unique quality of life for over 13,000 residents and draws tourists with its moderate coastal climate, drive-on beach, and diverse recreational opportunities.

Area Recreational Opportunities
Activities such as dune hiking, fishing, clamming, kite surfing, golfing, horseback riding, wine tasting, and off-road vehicle riding are just some of the activities offered in and around Grover Beach.

Off-Road Vehicle Riding Areas
The beach and sand dune recreation area attracts more than one million visitors a year and provides outstanding recreation opportunities for off-highway enthusiasts.

Monarch Butterflies
Every winter from November through February, thousands of Monarch butterflies may be found in a grove of eucalyptus trees at the Pismo State Beach Butterfly Grove, just half a mile north of the Grover Beach Train Station and adjacent to one segment of the Beach Boardwalk. This is believed to be one of the largest overwintering sites for these butterflies in the United States. Park docents staff the grove November through February from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with talks provided at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
