Public hearings on a citizen's request to change the name of Grand Avenue in Grover Beach to "West Grand Avenue" were held at the December 14th Planning Commission meeting and the January 18th City Council meeting. This request was also submitted to the City of Arroyo Grande, which held public hearings at its Planning Commission and City Council meetings. The result of these public hearings was approval by both Cities to change the name of Grand Avenue to "West Grand Avenue" in Grover Beach and "East Grand Avenue" in Arroyo Grande with Oak Park Boulevard being the east/west dividing point.

With the approval of the Grover Beach City Council, the name change to "West Grand Avenue" became effective January 18th. New street signs have been ordered and are scheduled to be delivered and installed in March. The new name change will assist citizens and visitors alike to locate businesses and residences along a major thoroughfare of our City.
