The Building and Safety Program in the Community Development Department will be introducing a new system of permitting known as "Permits By Fax". The type of improvements that will be allowed by the Permits By Fax program are as follows:

• Water Heater replacements
• Re-Roof with same or equal material
• Electrical service replacement in the same location less than 200 amperes
• Temporary power pole
• Window Replacement with opening not greater than 10 feet.

This system is designed to help ease the permitting process by allowing contractors and homeowners the opportunity to submit construction applications via fax. This program will eliminate the need for multiple visits to City Hall to permit a "simple" project. Once a faxed application is received, it shall be processed the same day if received by 11 a.m. Applications received after 11 a.m. will be processed by 9 a.m. the following business day. The program is scheduled to begin by February 2, 2004. Plans are also underway to make the forms available on-line from the City's website.
