The Grover Beach Parks and Recreation Department Welcomes New Recreation Coordinators

Recreation Coordinator Nora O'Donnell has worked for Grover Beach Parks and Recreation since October 2002. A native of San Luis Obispo, Nora served over 16 years with the United States Navy and moved back to San Luis Obispo with her son, Jonathan, in 1993 to pursue her educational goals. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration at Cal Poly in 1999. Nora's recreation experience includes work as a Youth Programs Coordinator in the Navy, several summers as a camp counselor and Camp Director for a local resident summer camp, event coordinator for an arts and crafts store, and four years with the City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department in the Children's Services Division. Nora supplies infectious enthusiasm and lots of creative energy to the department.

Nick Koster was hired to fill the second full-time Recreation Coordinator position in October 2003. Nick grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. After graduating, Nick spent two years at a management consulting firm in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to St. Paul, Minnesota, where he taught high school. Nick moved to the Central Coast in September of 2003 after spending his 7th summer as the Ropes Course and Water-ski Director at Camp Henry, a summer camp in Michigan. Since arriving in Grover Beach, Nick has been active in developing new recreation programs as part of the department's ongoing efforts to enhance recreation opportunities for Grover Beach residents.

Welcome Nick and Nora!
