Like Amelia, we all seek adventure in varying forms and levels. For those seeking adventure closer to home, Grover Beach Parks & Recreation endeavors to provide outlets for the adventurous spirit with a range of classes, camps, and activities for all ages. Learn to square dance with Pismo's ‘N Taws, help your dog with social skills in Dog Obedience Training, learn the basics of Beginning Piano, swing a tennis racket in Beginning or Intermediate Tennis lessons, or refresh your social skills in Etiquette/Good Manners class for children 8 to 12 years of age and a special Etiquette/Good Manners for Adults! Share the joy of adventure and encourage younger family members to take a class or attend a specialty camp! Adventures this summer include Musical Theatre Camp, Crafts & Cooking Camp, Gymnastics, Dance & Cheer Camp, and Piano Camp for Beginners. Back by popular demand is our beginners Catch a Wave Surf Camp for young people ages 7 to 17 taught by a local surf company August 2 to August 6, 2004. Rediscover the adventurous youth in you and form a team with your friends and family for the 2nd Annual Co-Ed Adult Kickball League. League play will begin in July with a mandatory manager's meeting on Monday, June 21. The 8th Annual Nothing But Net 3 x 3 Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 10. New adventures include a Mosaic Specialty Workshop with a local unfinished furniture store, Hobby Discovery Camp, and Sophisticated Lawn Sports Camp! For those who see space as their next adventure, come to the space exploration and astronomy multimedia presentation, "SPACE: The Grand Cosmic Journey," presented by a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador. This exciting presentation will be held on Friday, July 16 at the Ramona Garden Park Center. Through partnership opportunities with local businesses, the Parks & Recreation Department also offers Art for Adults through the Cuesta College Emeritus Program, Beginning Dungeons and Dragons and Beginning Magic through a local amusement store, Furniture Finishing Classes through a local unfinished furniture store, and The Sizzlin' Summer Concert Series offered through the Grover Beach Chamber of Commerce!
