Location The City of Grover Beach is 2.31 square miles in size and is located along the beautiful Central Coast of California, 92 miles north of Santa Barbara and 150 miles south of Monterey. We’re a friendly beach community, with a variety of commercial, industrial, and affordable housing opportunities.
Population The United States Census Bureau reported that the population for Grover Beach was calculated at 12,701 in the 2020 Census) (previous estimates were 13, 459 in 2019, 13,438 in 2017, 13,156 in 2010, and 13,067 in 2000).
The racial makeup of Grover Beach as of the 2020 census: 8,099 (68.8%) White; 168 (1.3%) African American; 196 (1.5%) Native American; 536 (4.2%) Asian; 23 (0.2%) Pacific Islander; 1,512 (12.0%) from other races; and 2,167 (17%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3,848 persons (29.2%).
Year-Round Activities Due to the moderate climate and proximity to the beach, locals and tourists alike can enjoy a bonfire on the beach, hiking along the dunes, strolling the boardwalk overlooking the dunes, horseback riding, or golfing. Increasingly popular family oriented events are the Sunday afternoon concerts in the park and a farmers market, held every year from June through September.
Stone Soup Music Festival, Food & Street Fair To celebrate our community’s diversity the Stone Soup Music Festival, Food & Street Fair is sponsored by the City of Grover Beach and the South County Chamber of Commerce. The event includes food and craft booths filling Ramona Garden Park and spreading out into the streets. With a variety of ethnic music, as well as jazz, bluegrass, and folk rock performances on Saturday and Sunday, dancing in the streets is encouraged!
