How can we keep pollution out of local streams and the ocean?
Water from rain and human activities either seeps into the ground or “runs off” to lower areas, making its way into local streams or the ocean. On its way, runoff water can pick up and carry many substances that pollute water. Some pollutants (pesticides, fertilizers, oil, and soap) are harmful in any quantity. Other pollutants (sediment from construction, pet waste, grass clippings, and leaves) can harm our streams and ocean. You can help, please see:
"Simple Pollution Solutions"

Did you know it's illegal for grass clippings and other landscape debris to be blown onto City streets?
Blowing or leaving grass clippings and other landscape debris in the street during yard maintenance doesn't just look bad, it's illegal! The act of using a leaf blower isn't a violation; however, the act of blowing yard trimmings and similar material onto the street or leaving them on the street is considered a Municipal Code violation. Fines can run as high as $500. For more information, please see:
